  • Increased overweight in children of mothers who drank coffee while pregnant

    [14 May 2018] A study published in the BMJ Open journal shows that even moderate coffee consumption during pregnancy, one to two cups per day, is related to a risk of overweight or obesity in school age children. It has not been clearly shown if caffeine is the direct cause of the overweight, but the relationship, alone, has caused researchers to encourage increased caution.

  • Transitional methods for determining causes of death

    [9 May 2018] Improved tools are now underway for determining the causes of death in settings where medical examinations or post-mortem autopsies are not routinely conducted. The population-based approach, namely Verbal Autopsy using standardized interviews, including signs, symptoms and circumstances leading to death, conducted with the bereaved family, are becoming the best alternative in the more affluent parts of the world.

  • To understand where robotization will go - take a look at popular culture

    [9 May 2018] In recent years there has been a lot of talk about robots. According to a report by consulting firm Merrill Lynch we are witnessing a "robot revolution". In the new GRI-report "Robotization - Then and Now", Barbara Czarniawska and Bernward Joerges, contextualize contemporary hype surrounding robots and artificial intelligence tracing the theme of robotization in popular culture from the 1920's to the present.
